AI and digitalisation have significantly made many things that we may wish to do easier, faster and simpler. At the same time, the systems technical, organisational and legal systems required for effective use of AI and digitalisation have accelerated complexity and uncertainty: increasingly, we need to deal with and adapt to “wicked” challenges. This is where modern universities play a new and critical role. Through a “university-as-a-service” approach, learners don’t just acquire predefined skills, they discover what they need to learn as they iterate, pivot, and grow. This talk explores why capability development matters more than ever and how education must transform to keep pace.
